Evaluation of seed loading and nodulation as factors that influence the persistence of Clitoria falcata Lam and Alysicarpus vaginalis (L) DC. in pasture
Abstract
In order to evaluate the load of seed in the soil, sprouting from cuttings and nodulation as factors that affect the persistence of Clitoria falcata Lam and Alysicarpus vaginalis (L) DC, a study was developed during 12 months corresponding to the low rainy (PPLL) and rainy (PLL) periods of 2009 in areas of the San Carlos 6 ceba farm belonging to the Batalla de las Guásimas Sugar Company, in the Vertientes municipality, in infertile savannahs on non-gleyosos plains dark soils of Camagüey . The load of seed in the soil and its viability, sprouting from cuttings, nodulation and its effectiveness were determined. The results of the investigation showed the existence of an important load of seeds in the soil that can guarantee the persistence of these species, as well as the possibility of being propagated by agamic way. They have abundant nodulation in the PLL with 90% effectiveness in A. vaginalis and 92% of C. falcata favorable for livestock development in this stage, unlike the PPLL, which is totally null.
