Abstract

With the objective of determining the most productive breed or crossing in the conditions of Camagüey province. We used the milk production information in 39 commercial dairies of the province, in the period of 2005-2010, we included 5 dairy genotypes, the sample had 2 021 records of animals distributed in all dairies studied. To analyze the character of milk production accumulated in the sample, the different sources of environmental variation were taken into account: year, dairy, season. The source of genetic variation was the race or genotype of the cows. The statistical package SPSS version 11.5.1 (2002) was used for the biometric processing. It was demonstrated for the specific areas of the study with importance for the dairy cattle systems of Camagüey, the highest productive yield is obtained with crossed breeds. It is recommended to reduce the effects of the environment on the animals of zootechnical interest, to continue looking for milk genotypes that adapt to our environmental conditions and that show a high productive yield under our tropical conditions.
