Seasonal behavior of variables related to the efficiency of artificial insemination in dairy cattle herds in the province of Camagüey
Abstract
To define the existence of patterns of seasonal behavior of the inseminated females pending diagnosis and pregnant women at diagnosis and the final gestation rate in dairy cattle herds, data from the bulletins corresponding to the period between January 1982 and December 2007 were taken. , of the files of the livestock subdelegation of the delegation of MINAGRI in the province of Camagüey, in which the information of the 17 companies producing milk is registered. To the selected variables (pregnant females to diagnosis, collected from females in first and total estrus, inseminated pending diagnosis and recentins) were analyzed for seasonal decomposition. In the period analyzed, seasonal behavior was observed for the inseminated females and the pregnant women at diagnosis; but not for the final gestation rate in which the lowest observed rates corresponded with services performed in the second half of the year, which could reflect the action of the service technician's efficiency, individual factors of the cows or the action of other unidentified mechanisms.
