Serogroups of Salmonella in food and co-cultures
Abstract
To establish the prevalence of Salmonella serogroups, linked to diseases transmitted by food of animal origin in Camagüey, 395 strains were investigated serologically, isolated in routine tests to food and stool cultures of diarrheal patients, during the years 2008 and 2009. A The results were applied to the proportions comparison method and for the statistical differences Chi Square X2 was used. The strains were grouped into five serogroups (B, C1, C2, D and E). In the 2008 isolations there was correspondence in the presentation of the serogroups, independently of the sample of origin, where B, C1 and E prevailed; it did not happen the same during 2009, since serogroup E prevailed significantly in food isolations while B was in coproculture.
