Ferrivet in lactating pigs (II). Immunoserves in sheep

Abstract

Ferrivet (a drug manufactured from hemolyzed blood) effect on lactational piglets, and Ferrivet plus immune-serum effect on recovering undernourished sheep were studied. Two experiments were performed using 32 lactational piglets and 24 underfed sheep. Dosage included Ferrivet + a ferric solution, Ferrivet + 2% Cu sulphate, 10% Ferrum + B12 vitamin, and iron dextran. Oral Ferrivet + immune-serum subcutaneously was administered to sheep. Oral Ferrivet was proved effective in preventing piglet iron-defficiency anemia. Oral Ferrivet + immune-serum caused a rapid recovery in undernourished sheep.
