Catgut implant in acupoints against erythromycin in acute rhinitis of pig
Abstract
An open non-sequential randomized Phase II clinical assay was performed to 100 pre-fattening swines infected by acute rhinitis. The sample was divided into two groups according to the treatment applied: a testing group with catgut implantation at acupunctural points, and a check group with erythromycin administration. A number of parameters behavior were compared in both groups. A prompt recovery of appetite in animals from the testing group was observed. A significant difference (P< 0,05) among final weights favoring catgut implantation treatment was registered. No differences in temperature for both groups were detected.
