Abstract

A clinical assay phase II, open, non-sequential and randomized was carried out on suffering swine dysentery fattening pigs at the Swine raising Center in Ciego de Avila, with the objective of assessing the clinical evolution, dehydration and appetite during treatment with China officinalis 6 CH and Tylobel-DHS, and estimating the economical effects on the diarrheas produced by the disease. The sample was distributed in two groups, each one of 40 animals: (1) treated with 5 sublingual drops of China officinalis 6 CH, every 12 hours the first day and every 24 h during the rest of the days up to seven, and Ringer solution (100-300 mL intra-peritoneal) according to the evaluated dehydration; (2) treated with Tylobel-DHS every 24 hours for seven days via intramuscular (1 mL/kg de peso) and Ringer solution the same as in group 1. Comparing the clinical evolution and dehydration, significant differences (p<0.05) between both groups were not observed. The appetite showed significant differences (p<0.05) favoring the homeopathically treated animals. It was demonstrated that the assayed homeopathic technique was more effective and economically feasible than the conventional one what gives the possibility of reducing the use of Tylobel-DHS in the therapy of swine dysentery.
