Analysis of mortality, lethality, prevalence, behavior by sex and breed and time of year of the canine distemper in a sample of the canine population of the city of Camaguey, between 1996-2003
Abstract
In order to assess the epizootiological indices of prevalence, mortality, lethality, behavior by race, sex and time of the year, a study of Canine Moquillo was carried out in the city of Camagüey during the period between 1996 and 2003.
From the medical records, the data was collected, which after processing, a statistical analysis was performed using the method of comparing proportions, reflecting the results in tables and graphs.
The diagnosis of the disease was made through clinical manifestations, laboratory analysis and pathological anatomy.
The authors conclude that the prevalence was 1.85%, mortality reached the figure of 0.73% and in the case of lethality 39.84% was obtained No differences were observed between the different races studied, but more animals got sick
during the rainy season (56.1%) March to August. The disease had a greater presentation in males (60.97%) than in females (39.02%). Among the age groups, the most affected was those older than 12 months.
