El búfalo de agua en Cuba. II. Evolución del rebaño, adaptación y estado actual

Resumen

Antecedentes: La introducción de búfalos en Cuba es relativamente reciente, no obstante, se posesionan en la práctica pecuaria con diferentes limitaciones, principalmente de índole cognoscitivo. Detallar la introducción de los búfalos en Cuba, su adaptación a las condiciones ambientales, y el desarrollo actual. Desarrollo. Se informa acerca de la evolución de los rebaños a partir de la llegada de la subespecie de Pantano y su situación actual. Conclusiones: Los resultados generales indican que su adaptación al ambiente cubano es una realidad, sin embargo, para mantener e incrementar la productividad de esta especie es necesario desarrollar un programa con nuevos enfoques gerenciales y tecnológicos, cuya guía parta del principio de producción a ciclo cerrado e incluya un proyecto coherente de mejora genética.
