Editorial 40 YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN CAMAGÜEY
With this extra issue, the Animal Production Magazine makes efforts with people and institutions celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Higher Education in Camagüey. Four decades have passed since that November 6, 1967, when the Agronomy career began in this territory. Days later the teaching career began. From that effort emerged - after traveling through preliminary stages - the University of Camaguey, first created by the Revolution. Which successful mother this center generated the current Higher Institute of Medical Sciences Carlos J. Finlay and José Martí Higher Pedagogical Institute, belonging to the Ministries of Public Health and Education, respectively. In the province of Camagüey, located 500 km east of Havana, there is a Faculty of the Manuel Fajardo Higher Institute of Physical Culture and the Higher Institute of Art. It is enough to enunciate them to infer how many economic and social transformations should occur to bring higher education to two important spheres, corporating in both institutions the Latin maxim mens sana in corpore sano. This edition includes articles where the research work of former collaborators is recapitulated. Most of them were disciples of founders of the UC, germ of the cloister of the current Faculty of Agricultural Sciences where today 26 doctors, 33 masters work and the master's degree in Sustainable Animal Production is taught. This is an excellent opportunity to express to another nascent scientific journal of our center: Challenges of the Directorate, attached to the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, whose first number was presented as part of the activities for the 40th Anniversary. The ephemeris reminds us of a path taken; At the same time, it allows us to see the future and, on a more solid basis, our commitment to disseminate Cuban science through highly relevant articles.
