Integrated methodology of the productive indexes for assessing laying hen farms
Abstract
It was assessed the zootechnical behavior in four commercial laying hen farms units having birds of White Leghorn race, strain L33, and 4x2 production system in pyramidal cages distributed in Camagüey municipality, all of them belonging to the Union of Companies of the National Birds Consortium (UECAN) in Camagüey province. A fully randomized design was used and the treatments were the years (2002, 2003 and 2004), the units and the months of every year. It was studied the zootechnical behavior that considered the actual variables, to which a multivariate analysis (Principal components) was applied. With the results of the components an Index of Integral Classification for the Units (ICIU) was conformed. The application of the ICIU shows results oaf the systematic evaluation that can be used for valuating the units for eggs production. When applying the ICIU, the units of best behavior were B and D y the worst were C and A. During the assessed year a low classification was obtained, but with an improvement for the company, in such a way that it is necessary to work on the variables Production and Quality of the hen with the aim of improving the results of the evaluated units.
