Use of finished liquid feed supplemented with creole variant 16 feed in pig fattening
Abstract
This work was made between February and May of 1996 in the fattening Unit “El Macho” belonging to Camagüey Swine Enterprise. The objectives were to evaluate the swine behaviour in fattening with Done Liquid Feed (DLF) complemented with creole feed, variant 16, to characterize the diets and to calculate the economical benefit obtained with a creole feed diet. The testing period lasted 107 days and the animals were 40 half-breed swine YL x D with 20 kg initial weight and 74 kg final weight in a male/female proportion of 1/1. The swines were divided at random into two treatments with 20 animals each one. One treatment consisted in DLF added with fattening industrial feed (control group) and the other treatment consisted in DLF added with creole feed variant 16. The aspects controlled were: the initial and final weight, the weight increase, the average profit daily, the food intake, the conversion of dry matter, protein and energy, and the swines health. A simple classification design was applied totally at random and data were processed by a computer program. The following conclusions were stated: the treatment with DLF complemented with creole feed resulted economically more efficient and this diet guaranteed the zootechnical-productive behaviour indicated in the national standards.
