Fundamental factors of sustainability of milk production systems in commercial farms with low inputs. I. The method of grazing
Abstract
A study of the methods of pasturing at 157 milk farms at the Camaguey province, belonging to the livestock farms of Triangle 1, Triangle 3 and Triangle 5 in the municipalities of Camagüey and Jimaguayú. Surveys were used to identify limitations and action factors relating to production systems. Most of the problems found were regarding partitioning low offer of feed to the animal, low stocking and fertility among other factors. The typological classification showed 4 groups that represented 46,3%; 29,0%; 13,8% and 10,9% respectively according to soil type, yield per hectars, methods of grazing and availability by animal.
